The City of Cordova is moving to Health Alert Level 2, effective 8 a.m. on Thursday, August 20. The step down from Level 3 Watch to Level 2 Advisory comes after there have been no positive COVID-19 cases in Cordova in the 14 days. Additionally, testing, contact tracing and hospital capacity are intact.
Under Level 2 Advisory: City emergency declarations may be requested by the Mayor, City Council, and/or City Manager with the Cordova Medical Team’s recommendation. The Incident Management Team and Emergency Operations Center may be implemented.
In Advisory status, if the City continues to see downward trends and all is going well, the City will methodically move to lift restrictions. The City may follow the State’s lead after the Cordova Medical Team and City Council confirm transition is justified using metrics recommended by the State of Alaska.
